I’m Running for Congress, and I’m Not The Best

GREG GUTFELD: Democrats deserve to lose real bad right now

When I first began talking to voters in 2006, I had the idea of taking two people to watch a movie at a drive-in theater.

The first guy asked, “Are we going to see The Godfather?” The second guy said, “Yes, we’re going to see The Godfather.” Then I said, “Well, that’s kind of a lame idea, don’t you think?”

They were not that much cooler than me.

For the last three years, I have been running for Congress. I ran because I thought it was important to try to do something that was important.

And now that I’m in the majority, it’s not that important to me anymore.

For the last three years, I have run for the United States Congress. Now, I think maybe I have accomplished nothing worth doing. I have not been the best or the most popular among my constituents. I have not done any great work. I have not been the most effective and I have not been the most effective in terms of how I have helped my constituents.

I have been in office, and when people say “Oh, we want to give you more time,” don’t give them enough time. No matter how much more time you give them, they are not going to be happy. That’s why they have the time.

What a Republican did in the House, the Republicans did in the Senate, to take all the power away from the President, but Democrats, the Democrats in the Senate, to take all the power away from the President, but the President’s power is limited. And we have the power to do some things.

And what we should do is repeal and replace Obamacare, not because we want to repeal and replace, but because we want to get Americans the coverage, the healthcare they need, the healthcare they deserve.

We should do it not just because it’s done something for us, but because it can make a future. Because we’ve got to make sure that we keep this promise about keeping your doctor.
