Rock legend Dolly Parton has a special message for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.

“We are a very special part of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and it is so so proud and we are so happy that we are a part of it,” she said.

“And we’re really glad that the Museum is doing such a great job that they got back together with a very, very special musical guest,” she added.

The Dixie Chicks singer, who is also a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, was one of more than 100 performers who took the stage to induct new members of the Hall of Fame during the show Saturday morning at the Museum.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum was established by the National Endowment for the Arts in 1978. The museum was the first to become a national cultural institution dedicated entirely to the preservation and presentation of American music and its heritage.

During her speech, Parton explained how her music was influenced by the civil rights era and the civil rights movement, as well as the rise of popular music at the time. She encouraged the audience to go back and listen to her music with fresh ears.

“It’s what it says in the song you all heard me sing, ‘When I was a little girl,'” she said to the audience.
